Since its start in early 2010, Amam Records has mostly been focused on presenting newer, up-and-coming names, but the music has always shown an old-school house inspiration across the board. Now, an influential veteran producer joins the crew: Bryan Zentz. Since making his mark Barada for Richie Hawtins Definitive Recordings in the mid-90s (before the days of M-nus!), hes released tracks and remixes on some of the worlds most respected electronic dance imprints including Bush, Spectral Sound, and most recently Plus 8.

Bryan Zentzs new EP, titled Sycamore Trax, begins with Double R, based on a thumping groove and a robotic swing that harks back to his vintage material, yet sounds unmistakably current, fitting in perfectly with the Amam aural aesthetic. Then, Todd Bodine of Highgrade Records tightens up the looseness and arranges it onto a techno grid, finding a new way to express the hypnotic ambience of the original.

On the flip side, Zentz offers two more originals: Ghostwood, which shows his personal perspective on Detroit sounds, and the jittery, sprightly Packard which ends the EP on an uplifting note.

Mike is not only the resident dj of one of Berlin's legendary clubs but he also owns the excellent Fachwerk label. This release features four tracks that are great exemples of Mike's diverse talents: from the hectic "Timber Framing" that delivers a pure raw and dramatic dancefloor energy madness, to the deeper and haunting "Deep Routes" then comes the hypnotic "Roots Talk" a mental rythm journey, while "The March" is an unstoppable stomping groove that djs will love to mix. M A N I K returns to Ovum after his incredibly successful Park To The Slope EP. He comes to us this whit his follow up Keep That Fresh EP. The title of the EP says it all as M A N I K is constantly evolving his sound and keeping the music fresh. The title track Keep That Fresh has a funky 303 bass line with intricate grooves and a hook made up of some chords. This is something that will clearly get the floor rolling. Next up is Ditmars Blvd with its heavy drums and catchy synth line, is a stone cold groove track.

On the B side we start with Hold On. This track is inspired by the sounds of early West Coast G Funk Hip Hop with its Lead synth and funked up analog bass line. She’s Slow Motion, with its R&B vocal floating over the incredible deep instrumental. This is something you could hear in the early mornings at a Brooklyn warehouse party. The final cut on this diverse EP is DMX, which is a funky, driving deep jam. All in all a great diverse follow up from M A N I K that should be in the sets of a wide range of DJs.

Pawas, who is well-known on Ostwind an whose remix for Andre Kronerts Salzwasserliebe has maked furor, meets his indian friends of Jalebee Cartel. Jalebee Cartel are 4 Indian's who enchanted many festivals with their live performances. Together with Pawas they span their elephants in front of the christmassy carriage and bestow us with the Rapchik EP a real feast for the ears.

Mellow easy beats encounters to a driving groove which glides with much feeling and sweetens our prechristmasperiod. Pawas and Jalebee Cartel are consumate musicians and that you can feel in their sound. Many instruments are recorded with an addiction and an eye for the detail. If we would decribe their sound it would be difficult. Techhouse with indian roots, detroitish chords and deep thoughts? In any case easygoing, full of freedom and happiness.

Ray Kajioka who is known from Kanzleramt comes up with 2 remixes for 'Pfung It' and attaches his interpretation the mark of indian spirit. We welcome the boys from Jalebee Cartel and Ray Kajioka on Ostwind and wish all involved a peaceful and reflective advent season.

Hey! and EC Records label boss Michel De Hey teams up with long term collaborator Mirko van Dommelen, or M.I.R.K.O. as he’s known to his friends, for this darn fine slab of melodic techno.

Quartz has had some great artists featured on their roster - including David K, Dubfire and D’Julz - and has been steadily releasing a repertoire of solid techno (check last years’ Split The Line) with some good success. 5th Business Day can only help expose Quartz further by widening its audience to a tech-house and even a house crowd. Driven by an insistent, funky bassline, it's dancefloor-friendly from the start, punctuated by a melodic house riff that echoes the bassline, and layer upon layer of synths and other sounds all working towards that insistent melody. This single-mindedness works really well; the result being a groove as solid as concrete, quite literally laying the foundations for the rest of the track. When the counter elements are introduced - cool melody to play off the original riff and nice crisp percussion - the whole thing steps up a gear. When the main-riff drops in the short breakdown, there’s no doubt it’s rocking. Programmed into a techno, tech-house or house set this is always going to be a big moment, but a credible one too. Winner.

On the flip, the ever-popular Nic Fanciulli does a great job in providing a contrasting remix, stripping out most of the melodic elements in favour of a monster techno groove. Where the original elements are used, they’re given a slightly different treatment and arrangement, syncopating them differently to engender a surreal off-kilter vibe - dipping into the melodic elements but never using them as the major element of the track. This works well, but make no mistake; it’s all about the relentless groove.

A big release for Quartz, solid stuff whether you prefer the purer techno sound of Nic Fancuilli's remix or the more melodic sound of the original.

Secret weapon alert here people as Tim Anderson drops a rocking EP on Spinnin’ Deep. With that deep house bass line, squeeky sound fx, rising synths and wicked disco influenced breakdown, 'Micro Dreams / Come On' deserves your unrivalled attention!

It is obvious to attentive observers of the electronic dance music scene that, over the last few years, the Rhein Main region has developed into a true Mecca of that modern definition of House which is well able to build highly inspirational sound bridges between the abstraction of Minimal Techno and the Funk in US House music.

One of the pioneers of this movement is the Heidelberg-born Christian Burkhardt, who now lives in Frankfurt. With his releases on Oslo and Raum... Musik., as a part of the La Peña Collective and with his album "Revolver", which he produced together with Einzelkind in 2010, he has created permanent musical values.

Burkhardt's debut on Cocoon, "Stop Over Goa" is even better: percussive Funk, powerful hand claps, some Wild Pitch Acid and alienated Adrenaline-Diva vocals are causing a massive dancefloor mobilization which would even make Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave envious.

In a less obvious way, "Chanel" is hypnotizing the listener with vibrating form of tribal House reduction that cultivates statically charged energy states over almost nine minutes. Rarely did modern House music sound equally complex and clearly structured.

Oliver Klein & Kolombo takes us back in time with this simple and piano driven tune. All melted together and arranged perfectly to take you back to the core of house music that quite simple just works 100% in the clubs.

This track has been roadtested for 6 months now and nowhere have the reactions been less than GREAT!

Taras Van De Voorde (best known for his excellent track “1998” on Rebirth) loops the track into deeper grounds and makes it less uplifting and more driving to the primetime action and underground heads.

Fantastic remix job on such a signifigant “piano-hook” track.

1605 has always been about pushing things forward and presenting new faces to the scene. And in this fresh collaboration, Umek has teamed up with newcomer Traumer and came up with one of the most paranoid tracks ever!

From the hysteric vocal to the piercing synths, this is a hellride with sounds that will make you fly over the cuckoo's nest and you'll never want to come down, no pun intended....

And if that wasn't enough, none other than Tocadisco took care of the remix duties. Going for a more straightforward approach, the remix chugs through the mutated synth lines and keeps the craziness in check.

Tom Ellis, Elef, Chesperito, Maik Yells, Baldo And Carlo are the members of Neovinyl Allstars Vol. 1, turns out to be the combination of some of the best artists who have released with us until now.

Tom Ellis, one of the most important artists in Wales and with releases in labels as Trimsound, Logistic or Telegraph brings us up this “Want You” which will make us feel a strong track filled with a deep disco soul. Later on Chesperito from Upon you and part of Ham N Cheese, just made a super groove track called “Eazy Tiger” full of class. The new upcoming German artist Elef gives us an extraordinary house track called “Bud’s Dancer”.

The rest of the release is formed by the Neovinyl family: first Maik Yells with his Japanese influenced “Hanachan”, then Baldo with his fantastic old school “Looking Back For The Roots” and last but not least Carlo with “Happy Helen” make the perfect close for this tenth celebration release.
