When dance music's creative vanguard get their paws on the Spectral Sound catalogue, the results are rarely less than spectacular. Spectral Essentials: Remixes One cherry-picks some of the best Spectral-affiliated remixes, that is, Spectral artists both remixed and remixing, and ties them up with a pretty ribbon. Standouts include James T. Cotton's subterranean take on Brian Aneurysms "Das Element Des Menschen" Osborne's house-y "Simulacrum Mix" of The Vanishers "The Tic-Tac Tactic", Peter Grummich's click-clacking remix of Matthew Dear's "It's Over Now", and Barem's desert-dry remix of Kate Simko's "She Said".

First release for 2011 and it’s already a milestone in the history of house music: Coloursound’s “Fly With Me” was originally released 2002 on the British label City Rockers with Damian Lazarus as A&R and is now back on Great Stuff’s Roots Edition series. Produced by British dj/producers Dylan Burns & Stretch Silvester it got the remix treatment from Spektre’s Filthy Rich, Nicole Moudaber (Intec) and Bar 25 resident Dirty Doering from Berlin. Ending the year with a Manualism compilation album has become a tradition for us, which we are continuing for the 4th year in a row. We are proud to present: Manualism 4.0!

We’ve carefully selected the finest tunes over the last months and have come up with 18 tracks for this edition!

Familiar faces like Matador, Examine, Francesco Pico (with Roell Sapphire), Elad Emek, Tundra, Sensou, Arjuna Schiks, Jeff Bennett and Giorgos Gatzigristos (on remix duties this time) find their place alongside new names to the Manual label like Sarp Yilmaz (Trapez/Kittball), Jaramillo & Bastien (Strom/Starlight), Ryan Sullivan (Perc Trax) and Luke Mandala (Get Physical/Baroque).

Throughout the years we’ve always been very keen on keeping our ears open to discover and support new Dutch talent, and needless to say with Daniel Zuur, Orbit System, Zoutman and Alessandro Diga on board we’ve got the feeling that the future of Dutch electronic dance music is secured!

Robbie Rivera drops his brand new single “Departures” on the legendary Black Hole imprint, with Lizzie Curious delivering the vocals.

Robbie’s own vocal mix of “Departures” is like a refreshing breeze on a hot and crowded beach shore, full of people enjoying the good times and dancing to the powerful beats of a solid and well prepared live DJ set.

Stunning remixes come from Cosmic Gate, First State, Chris Kaeser & Stonebridge, The Stafford Brothers and Billy Paul Williams.

A track that has travelled the globe, not only through hundreds of radiostations, played out by DJ's or performed live by Sharon and Armin during the Armin Only - Imagine shows, but also sang along and danced to by millions of Armin fans. 'In & Out of Love' was one of the biggest tracks of 2008, and even received more than 72 million views for its official music video on YouTube.

2 years after its release, 'In & Out of Love' sees a new package of previously unreleased remixes. Legendary producer Chicane gave a warm dancefloor feel to the track, by chopping the vocals and giving it an extra soothing sound. LMC pushed the big room character, while Christian Davies stripped it down to an energetic, proggy track. Kenny Hayes Blue Sphere Mix aims for the tropically warm, Balearic uplifting trance sound, where UK duo Whelan & Di Scala went all-the-way on peak-time house with a sensitive touch.

A new package for a future classic!

With his Pattern Repeat releases and a clutch of 12"s on his own Baum Records label Dennis Bøg aka Resoe has made an impression on the DubTech scene. Backed by a chilling Sigha remix, he drops the rugged undulations of 'Minus & Plus', never quite settling into 4/4 but keeping the swing and roll simmering with loosely synced dub chords while 'Demoon' is more of a straight-up digital Dub tune in the vein of Andreas Tilliander or Echologist. If you've got a 'floor to put into submission we reckon the Sigha remix will come in very handy.

Magitman, a progressive techno maestro returning to Proton Music after his best-selling "Rollercoaster" of a remix for Max Demand earlier in 2010, teams up with Particles' atmospheric prodigy Exoplanet, who's got a debut artist album looming on Proton Music, to remix Moonbeam and Marrow's vocally "Insincere".

Get Fresh is yet another quality track to come from Moguai as he sees 2010 off with this great release through us at Skint.

As ever, the production is tight and influences imaginative, the intro takes no prisoners, but for the faint-hearted amongst you the early mayhem’s soon equalized by playful percussion and an infectious 90s-esque vocal. Not to mention the spine tingling ‘hands in the air’ choral-tones that has long become a trademark for the German genius. The finished product is another bold melodic house stomper worthy of any dance floor.

The remixes come thick and fast, expressing a wide range of sounds and influences. The Dohr and Mangold remix further utilizes the hook-laden vocals, the tech-house duo manipulate and reshuffle the hook throughout, introducing intermittent dubbed out synth stabs and lively drums, to produce a truly bouncy and party-filled groove. Keep a careful eye on these two.

Offering another perspective is Run Riot, with an obliterating mix that focuses on the break beat as it pummels and ravages your ears with bottom heavy beats and crunchy, distorted bass. On the flip, Skint label legends X-Press 2 offer deep-house mixed with staunch techno beats, with radiating, piercing bassline coming through on the drop for the all-nighter crew.
