Jay Lumen - Pushin' (MIS023)

Sébastien Léger's Mistakes Music label is back with another healthy double dose of prime time power. This time, the music has been provided by the sonically diverse Jay Lumen, who is equally as known for his progressive house masterpieces as his tracky, dirty techno bombs. Fitting with the Mistakes Music sound, "Pushin'" shows Jay taking things toward a clean and precise techno direction, with two drum-drenched monsters produced with one thing in mind: total dancefloor destruction.

Scuba - Triangulation (Interpretations) [HFCD003I]

Scuba, aka Paul Rose, has been at the forefront of the dubstep scene since its birth. For Triangulation (Interpretations) new allure is breathed into Scuba’s originals. The listless beauty of Before is embued with a spine tingling warmth on Scuba’s luscious opening re-edit, Before (After). A remix of Latch by Will Saul & Mike Monday of Simple Records, Aus Music and Buzzin’ Fly, infuses the dubbed out original with a dose of bumping house flavor.

America’s totem of bass Faulty DL takes leave from the original On Deck with a low burring bassline and elegantly woven melodies drawn warmly across the whole. Scuba’s back with the old skool vibes on You Got Me (I Got You) but confidently skips the line by keeping it firmly in this moment.

Canadian Deadbeat has showcased his own brand of dub laden electronics for the likes of Wagon Repair, Scape, Spectral , Musique Risque and Cynosure over the past decade, his remix of Tracers sees him in classic form delivering a deep 7am techno heavy hitter. Joe made an immediate impact on the scene with his 12”s on Hessle Audio and Applepips over the past year, his rework of So You Think You’re Special has a slowly blossoming groove underpinning stuttering percussion, jangling keys and an expertly playful melody that opens out across the sparse background.

Finally, South London’s Deadboy offers an understated modern jungle remix of Before with skittering hats and heavy bass that can’t fail to light up floors and faces.

Pan-Pot - Captain My Captain (MOBILEE071)

If you're a fan of Techno, we have something you might be interested in...

Pan-Pot’s busy touring schedule over the Summer no doubt inspired their upcoming 12” ‘Captain My Captain’. Having performed for countless festivals and main-stage crowds, their new tracks put forth glacial soundscapes so epic they could sink the Titanic.

If it's possible to say this, title track 'Captain My Captain' is actually the more restrained and studied of the three - featuring vocals written and recorded by Los Angeles based studio vocalist and label freund Cari Golden, who also wrote and performed the vocals on Anja Schneider's recent release for the Hi Five! mobilee compilation 'Something Left'.

Meanwhile, 'Black Horse Down' and 'Bad Photocopy' have everything a true Pan-Pot fan could ever wish for - think dark and heavy, builds and drops, synths and loops - true four a.m. grit to get your hands in the air and keep you raving until dawn!

Hobo - Berlin Booty (MINUS103)

Joel Boychuk, aka Hobo, has risen up the ranks of the techno underbelly in only a couple short years and has quickly solidified his placement amongst the cream of the crop. Both his debut mini-album “From A To B” and his exceptionally well-produced “Trackz” EP climbed the DJ charts, receiving praise from techno’s most widely-respected DJs. Still in his mid-twenties, Hobo has clearly done his research into what works at the clubs, as he has used his knowledge to craft powerful dancefloor bombs with enough creative juice to both entertain the feet and twist the brain into a sloppy mess of mental hysteria. His third outing for Minus is a double whammy of funkatronic hobo-techno, with both tracks showcasing two very distinct journeys into the depths of his musical merry-makings.

The a-side, Berlin Booty is a proper party jam set to wake up the freaks and party animals and get their asses shaking. Berlin Booty slowly simmers to a boil, slyly adding a slight aggression and an air of darkness, with crisp and clear percussive elements driving the sounds along. The track takes full use of clever volume control, with certain aspects appearing suddenly at the forefront of the mix, when just a few moments earlier they were the least noticed elements of the track. An incredibly sinister and massive saw wave bass tone dominates the cut, with growling, grinding frequencies guaranteed to make the partygoers sneer a devilish grin from the dancefloor. Effective and perfectly-timed breakdowns complete with dramatic returns keep the track fresh from the start to the end, while the clever use of filters help take the bass buzz down into a deep and demented vortex. The most accomplished DJs know that the most important tracks in the night are not the ones with the most frills and spills, but rather the grooves and steady tracks which build anticipation and tension.
