The wait is finally over: after six years, Isolée will release his third album on Pampa Records. “Well Spent Youth” showcases Rajko Müller’s talent as an exceptionally visionary producer.

No one sounds like Isolée. Not even close. The name says it all: one-of-a-kind.

Over the last 15 years, Isolée has managed to create a breathtaking trademark sound. Every note seems lovingly scavenged from the depths of his analogue equipment pool, then polished and woven into an abstract, otherworldly, always morphing yet still binding and bouncing sound composition of epic proportions. Well Spent Youth is a chameleon; it assumes different forms depending on the volume it’s played. Tunes like ‘Taktell’, ‘Thirteen Times An Hour’, ‘Hold On’, ‘One Box’ and ‘Celeste’ set the club on fire, quickly spreading the unique, indescribable Isolée vibe, which imbues the often cold, bleak dance floor with a unique, clever colour. The collective joy at being challenged is ubiquitous. People dance to Isolée’s music with their eyes closed – opened every now and then only to exchange knowing nods.

But it’s an equal pleasure to play this album at home on your living room system. Especially when you feel sick and useless, unfit for anything other than the contemplation of your screwed-up life. Throw on the record and let the sound reach out a warm, safe hand, pull you out of the whole damn mess.

In 1998, Isolée achieved a timeless stroke of genius with “Beau Mot Plage” (Playhouse), which enchanted listeners across genres and the world, pushing the boundaries of electronic dance music further than they’d ever been pushed before. This was followed by two highly acclaimed albums on Frankfurt label Playhouse, Rest and We Are Monster, along with numerous remixes for artists like Recloose, Blaze, Franz Ferdinand, Roy Davis Jr., Tiga, Alter Ego and International Pony, to name a few.

Now, Isolée reminds us yet again what electronic music is capable of – crossing boundaries and achieving the psychedelic! Pampa is happy to bring this latest album to the world. Though if we’re honest, the very best part is: we get to be friends with Rajko!

Two fine production outfits are stirring up hype from big trade magazines to the radio with “Prostitute”. As we listen to the pros and cons of falling in love with a prostitute, a low cycling sub bass, punching kick and sharp snares give this spoken word track a deep swinging groove. Visionquest gives us a deep, jazzy vibe before a tripped out bass line and quick snare shots intensify the remix.

Deniz Kurtel will be one female you will be hearing a lot about in the coming months as she drops her debut artist album on Crosstown Rebels, pre-empted by one of the tracks of the year, ‘The L Word’.

Turkish born and NYC based Deniz Kurtel came to the attention of Damian Lazarus through her connection with Wolf + Lamb, while she was living at the infamous Marcy Hotel last year. He immediately fell for her originality and emotive mysterious style, in particular on ‘The L Word’.

‘The L Word’ is a spell-binding record that has had adrenaline throbbing in the veins of the lucky few to have heard it. Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones and a handful of key tastemakers have been championing the record in 2010 and it looks set to explode in the start of the new year as the lead track on her debut album.

The dream-like vocal creates the basis for the original track, overlaid onto cascading synths, skipping beats and a bassline that sinks the heart. The charisma of this record makes it stand apart from anything you’ve heard before.

From a classic original to an epic masterpiece, Guy Gerber turns this into an unforgettable package. His countryside remix is haunting and epic, climbing ever higher into your consciousness. Sounding like Four Tet crossed with Moodymann, the whistling pipes and echoed pads tease and swirl on the shimmering vocal. In the words of Freaks, “We first started recording this record around 6 years ago. Originally to a live drum track. The track started off as a straight cover, then eventually was stripped down and remixed effectively. Diz used to stay with us quite a bit in London and around the time that we first recorded the vocals we had been listening to a lot of Funkadelic, The Style Council and this. Diz started singing it in the car and we just decided to record it for fun. It just seemed to work so well, probably because Diz really understood the soul of the track and captured it in the delivery of his vocals. We then added some backing vox and stripped that back and ended up with this version... The album, “Conscience”, that we took it from, is one of our all time faves”

The one and only Henrik Schwarz also serves up a strong remix and dub with his trademark warm sound, piano, synth and acid bassline! Magic and epic at the same time... From Germany Johnny D reworks the song with his special groove and vibe !

The name says it: “For The Funky EP” the track “For The Funky” on Catalogue number 11 is a funky groover with some very effective oldschool house and techno beats influenced by the early 90s. The track "Hey Hoe" is an extravagant sounding, funky dancefloor killer.

With Tiny Little Widgets, Martin Eyerer has just finished his second solo album. Two years after the distinctly dance-floor and club-oriented Word of Mouth, he now comes up with a long player which offers more variety between Dj-tools and listening pieces. Martin has deliberately picked artists from different genres and countries with whom to collaborate on the originals as well as for the remix sessions.

Having already brought us 'Your Move' featuring Sian Kosheen, with its bumper remix pack from Thomas Schumacher, Florian Meindl, Namito and Mihalis Safras, Catweasel is the second single from the album was backed by fantasic remixes from Nicole Moudaber and Paso Music boss, Martin Woerner.

Chicago’s Tevo Howard has only been releasing music for a few years, but his embrace of his city’s classic sound, combined with his unusually musical touch, has him making waves in the deep house circuit. He lands his latest release on Ben Watt’s iconic (and eccentric) Buzzin’ Fly Records, working with vintage analogue equipment to give his deep, melodic house a gritty warmth.

“The track was written in honor of Ben Watt and Buzzin’ Fly”, says Howard. “I wanted this piece to be a dance-floor sweep, while expressing concrete theoretical musical phrasing and harmony.” “The Age of Compassion” does just that. The original mix is a beatless swirl of clean-lined arpeggios, offering plenty of possibilities for creative mixing; the “House Mix” reworks the contrapuntal themes over crisp drum machines, leaving plenty of breathing room.

It was Watt who came up with the ingenious selection of remixers. Ireland’s Donnacha Costello, founder of the acclaimed imprint Minimise, shows his techno roots with a taut interpretation with looping keys, dark, melodic bass, and a big kick.

Aera, aka Ralf Schmidt, and one of Beatportal’s Artists to Watch for 2011, brings a deeper, more downbeat vibe perfect for slower house sets, with elegant bells and a cool, loping groove.

A label that never disappoints, Buzzin’ Fly continues to push electronic music forward without losing sight of its roots. “The Age of Compassion” is a musical masterpiece with equal appeal on or off the dancefloor.
