The rare use of wheeling gul sounds in a house track coupled with the wintery charm of Suddenly Somethin' got my tail up straight away when I first heard it in Jozif’s RA mix. A glacial London and the insistent plod seemed fitting for this release and the rest of the package works its way through you like the spreading thaw of spring.

The title track takes the epic drama of his Wolf + Lamb release, elongating the groove to turn in a 6am bliss out. Assertive yet sensitive, the track cheekily steps on and off of the floor, sending trippy pulses across lush washes of melody while a fuzzy, cradle like bassline rocks back and forth. The drums are raw and organic, tough without being pounding while strings and woodblocks add to the cinematic feel. The track is widescreen like most things associated with Agoria, but its agility and dexterity is not hindered and Sunrise shifts its bulk with grace and pose.

The aforementioned Suddenly Somethin’ has a nostalgic edge, whether those without a coastal upbringing would agree is another point. My point is that the Seagull-like sounds show a daring imagination that counters the outright honesty in the melody, allowing for an emotional disco outpour without losing face.

Widescreen, emotional boxes have been ticked to pass the InFiné test, Natural Nature and Cathy’s Diamonds tick the more leftfield boxes that the label’s tastes spread to. Rolling house in the style Craig Richards would use to diffuse his floor while still spinning heads, the track has a dark energy that pushes the parameters of the package. Cathy’s Diamonds takes an orchestral approach with soaring strings and untreated drums. Vocal samples and uneasy melodies add to the intrigue and illustrate the level of detail and emotional variation across the EP, sending it off in accomplished style.
