Progressive House
Driving with a slightly more tech-edged direction than recent Anjunadeep releases, Stephen J. Kroos' four-track EP is a triumphant return for an artist than came to the fore with his impressive artist album 'Tecktonick' in 2007.
Renowned for his deep command of groove and meticulous sound design, the Dutchman takes us on a driving, dark and hypnotic journey caught somewhere between Detroit techno and classic prog in 'Mnenosyne'.
Equally hypnotic but mellowing out slightly is the spell-binding 'Distentio' - a groove-driven, tripped out gem with some jackin' house style vocals.
Snapping with deep bass and dark tech synths, 'Polygon' is the sort of intense techno beast that wouldn't sound out of place booming from the speaker stacks as Jeff Mills' put them through their paces, while 'Paradox' wraps things up with a eerie, looping piano house groove that locks us in Kroos control once and for all. Four contrasting slabs of groove-laden dancefloor dynamite that will appeal to DJs of all stripes.
